The tragedy of romance
So yesterday I went to visit Keats' house in Hampstead. It was interesting to read how much of a tragic romantic he was. His infactuation with Fanny Brawne and his tragic ending with tuberculosis was sad. With what is known now in relation to the mind/ body spirit connection it is no surprise his lungs were destroyed, which is related to the heart region. I found it fascinating that he was such a man of love. I am not sure how much that happens nowadays. Imagine a man's whole life being devoted to love for another?
And then I went to Freuds house in the same area. Once again it was fascinating and I recommend it as a place to go. his house has all of his bits and pieces, and the famous lounge of his patients. I enjoyed one of the messages he spoke on the video, noting that at first people mock you, then you come upon resistance to your ideas, and after a while they start to accept them, but that you needed to stand strong by your ideas. Which certainly was his experience.
A quick jaunt on the Heath then ended my day. I really enjoy the gardens of the UK and am looking forward to exploring the Lakes District where I will be taking the time to do a lot of writing. I am very much looking forward to it in fact.
