When the wind blows against you...
So today was 'one of those days' which just ones to show no matter where you are in the world those types of days always exist. I took everything in good humor - the shops not being where they should be, the disappointment of my museum experience, all okay,, until I was an hour late to meet my friend. You just have to love how easily we compound our issues to exponentially create more stress to the point where I was walking around the Amex building in NYC to the meeting place described by Two security guards and still couldn't find it!!! Oh how I laugh now but it was amazing how stressed I was, as I was soo late, and I hadn't been able to contact my friend. What did we do before mobile phones? I am guessing not stressed as much as we do now! It highlighted how out of touch we can feel or how overly intrusive our technology can be (she says as she writes this blog on an iPad). We must have had better tolerance thresholds, been okay if someone was up to half an hour late, or maybe we weren't as precise with our arrangements . After today I am happy to be taken back to that simpler time. And tomorrow is another day - where the wind will blow from behind me rather than against me - like today. Oh worth noting an update on my voice which is making a comeback :) And my cold is nearing its demise thankfully :) so today really wasn't all that bad at all....

Serendipity - a karmic event and nice restaurant
Tonight I was pleasantly surprised by being taken to Serendipity - yep the same as the one in the movie by the same name. Being a bit of the romantic I enjoyed the experience with many photos being taken. What exactly do I like about the movie? The inspiration that it provides that there may be that someone out there that you meet via coincidence, and that even though you may not see each other for years that the forces of nature just may bring you back together. I have witnessed such relationships over the last couple of years. Just as someone thinks they will e single forever they meet someone who they just click with. Sometimes this hasn't happened at the right time, yet years later when the timing is right it just works. Hmmm, I know that relationships and love aren't that simple when we put our human lenses and stories over it, but to celebrate the magic of eating at Serendipity, tonight it shall be so.

The power of your voice
Having had issues with my voice for a week now I went and sought some counsel from an intuitive healer in NYC. Spiritual people are everywhere thankfully. So I sussed out a new age store and when given the opportunity asked about looking at what was blocking my voice. You see the voice is located at the fifth chakra which is an energy centre related to self-expression. Fear will block that chakra and the results can be a sore throat, bigger fear and maybe a little anger (as in my case) can result in you losing your voice. The reason why is irrelevant, the way to heal is more important. What I was reminded of, through doing a quick exercise where I tuned into the energy and balanced it out, was that we are energy and that these imbalances will occur, however that we do have the power to change and release and become healthy again. Of course I have also been drinking lots of water, not drinking for the last two nights to give my physical body the support that it needs. However addressing the energy side of things has been crucial as well. After all, that is all we are made up of. If you want to explore his stuff just pick up a book by Caroline Myss it is fascinating!!!

New York state of mind
I have arrived in New York and has taken a number of days to land - I think today has had me land in my body a lot more. Having a cold and having lost my voice is not the best start to a trip but that hasn't stopped me from wandering around and getting a feel for the city that never sleeps. Luckily I am staying with a friend of mine so I can get more of a real world view than just being a tourist.
The energy of this palace is 'big'. It literally buzzes and there are a diverse range of people around. I find it overwhelming at times, the choice is just ridiculous. Too much- and there are elements of 'show' that are evident. Some gorgeous people who you think should be models but then you realize that they are looking to 'make it' and that they are that beautiful and yet aren't famous. And that must be hard that they can get lost in the crowd.
I have seen Brooke Shields - and that is an amazing experience as you feel like you know these people and yet you don't at all. It does give you a buzz, and it will be interesting to see who else I see. In the meantime I will start my week of playing the tourist while my friend is at work which will be a different experience again. But I should mention Maria's - a piano bar that we went to where people came to sing broadway hits and it was amazing!!! The joy people were experiencing by singing was beyond what you could imagine - unfortunately I couldn't join in because I had no voice, however I got to sit back and smile like a goose and that was just as much fun feeling everyone elses happiness.
