Be Careful what you wish for

Well, after having a whine yesterday, seems that the contract I had - lock stock and two smoking barrels, has been put on hold. So now I don't start work on Monday, and have to wait until next Thurs to find out if the role is going ahead. So I will be watching my money for another week or two in anticipation of a good paycheck at come stage. So still getting descriptions sent to me so will see where those lead. Plenty of opportunity in this market which is good.
Good news on the homefront, moved into my new abode this week - friends of friends. Two guys - two guys and a girl now! Didn't see them much last night as I went and drowned my sorrows (well and truly drowned those suckers) with some friends at a pub. Was astonished when I got on the Underground and it was packed at 11pm on a Thursday. So ended up being a safe night too which is always helpful. Go South Clapham! Will make up for not hanging around home tonight. Will have a quiet one in preparation for stonehenge/ bath tomorrow.

I Don't Like Mondays..

Well, I am venturing back into the workforce for 6 months. Have scored myself a contract. So things have come together. Even though it has only been 3 weeks since I left Oz, I feel like it has been a lot longer. With all of the sightseeing and different adventures, and having everything up in the air for a while it really has you live life to the max I think.
Yesterday I did the things I really wanted to do before I started work - including seeing the Rodin Exhibition which was fantastic - what an incredible skill. Saw the Thinking Man, which was great, but he also had a lot of other fantastic works.
Then off to the Globe Theatre which has ended it's season already which is unfortunate. So will have to wait until May to see the show, but got to see the theatre which is awesome. Very enthused about seeing a show there.
Also spent what I hope is the last night I will be in a Hostel - yay! (hope so anyway). The night before I had a lady get up during the night, go to the bathroom (no that's not the punchline) but then get back into bed, get up again (nooo that's not the punchline either), and turn on the lights and accuse me and the other girl in the room of stealing £100 from her. Luckily I had spoken to her earlier and flatly denied that either of us did anything.
Needless to say I got up early and got outta there after locking up my stuff in case she was still a little psychotic in the morning. But I saw her in the afternoon and she profusely apologised, saying she had had too many beers at the pub (you're telling me!) and that she had found the money. Actually I felt sorry for her because she was so embarrassed. I won't miss the little things like that.
So off to my share house for 6 weeks for a breather, and hopefully I will find something else in that time.
Tomorrow will be shop till I drop day for work clothes, ready for Monday, and off to Stonehenge and Bath for a bus tour on Sat. So still getting out there before it gets too cold (yes there is a chill in the air and it's not just my attitude :))

Weekend

Had a great weekend in Brighton. Is only an hour out of London but is on the water. As you walk down hill from the station you see the ocean and I couldn't help but grin like a fool (even though I was carrying a tonne)! Booked into my room at the hostel (MY ROOM!) and went for a walk on the pebbly beach. And I didn't even mind the pebbles! Actually I am not much of a sand fan, so was cool with the pebbles. They have a pier and on that it has a full on amusement park. So here you are on the beach, rocky as it is, and you can hear the seagulls, and screams of people going on the ghost ride. add to that the spectacular sunset and I was thinking I was in some major wonderland!
So grabbed some fish n chips for dinner, and wandered. Had a beer then went back to my room because it was mine! and read and listened to my IPOD.
Went wandering the next day and the shopping was so tempting! This is a place that I will definitely go and visit when working and I have some money and not so much luggage! The art/crafts were great, found an awesome alternative shop, and add to that good weather and I was a very happy camper.
Went and saw the Devil Wears Prada - gotta love Meryl Streep and then had some mussels in a restuarant. Had one of those 'oh you're here alone!' moments when they were fussing over what seat to give me in the restuarant. Made me feel very small, but I got over it, once I'd had a glass of wine. Thanks to Ruth who showed me mussel eating etiquette!
Anyway back in London, have another interview for the Natwest job this afternoon, and then hopefully that will be a 'go ahead'. Yay!
